Standard baseplates are fitted to every upright to provide a smooth bearing surface for the upright and spread the load of the upright over a reasonable area of the floor.
They also provide a means of fixing the upright to the concrete floor as well as a means of levelling the upright when necessary. The standard baseplate is suitable for both 90mm and 100mm uprights where the loads and frame height to width ratio permit.
